Washington, D.C. — Today, Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) joined forces with other lawmakers to introduce a bipartisan Congressional Review Act legislation aimed at blocking the Biden administration's electric vehicle mandates. The proposed legislation comes in response to the Environmental Protection Agency's recent finalization of new emissions regulations requiring a significant increase in the percentage of electric vehicles sold in the U.S.

Senator Budd expressed his opposition to the EV mandates, stating, “President Biden’s new EV mandate continues this administration’s war on American consumers and American energy. This new rule will cause costs to rise, choice to decline, and national security to be threatened. I’m proud to join Senators Ricketts and Sullivan to overturn this disastrous mandate.”

Senator Ricketts echoed similar sentiments, calling President Biden's EV mandate delusional and emphasizing the potential negative impact on low-income and rural families. He highlighted the importance of defending consumer choice and protecting against increased dependence on external sources.

Senator Sullivan raised concerns about the practicality of EV technology in rural states like Alaska, emphasizing the challenges posed by extreme cold temperatures and vast distances between communities. He criticized the attempt to shift away from internal-combustion engines without proper congressional authorization, warning of adverse effects on American families and supply chains.

The bipartisan effort led by Senators Ricketts and Sullivan, supported by Congressmen John James and Russ Fulcher, aims to challenge the new regulations and ensure that Americans have access to a variety of vehicle options that suit their needs.
